NDIA Military Medicine Conference, Baltimore – IVIR Inc. attended the Military Medicine Partnership Conference and Expo in Ellicott City Maryland. The theme of the conference was Arming the Military Medic through Innovation, Building Enduring Partnerships to Fill Warfighter Medical Capability Gaps. Ms. Baez had an opportunity to conduct one-on-one sessions with Government representatives to articulate IVIR’s current and future research efforts.
IMSH Orlando – Ms. Catherine Strayhorn attended the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare which is considered the most important healthcare simulation conference of the year. As a member of the Corporate Council Executive committee for SSH she helps guide the society to promote industry visibility and recognition of the science and study of simulation into the future.
IVIR Inc. was awarded the DoD DHP Joint En Route Care Training System of Systems (JETS) contract. This is a System of Systems Architecture for a Joint Medical Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (Med-CATT) with focus on patient hand-offs and patient transfers. The architecture will be capable of incorporating a combination of integrated commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), research initiatives, future technologies and modeling and simulation advancements to accomplish training missions. A system of systems architecture will allow for the provision of training across the expanded continuum of care (for both individuals and teams) on how to more effectively manage patient hand-offs and transfers to improve patient outcomes by reducing medical errors and adverse events.
IVIR Inc. was selected for the ARL STES MEDSIM IDIQ award through its partner VCOM3D. This STES Omnibus IDIQ will contract specialized and cutting-edge research and development engineering service to support a broad range of transition ready applied research and advanced research requirements for learning, training, testing and mission rehearsal.
IVIR Inc. was awarded contract from Army Research Laboratory for Educational, Test and Evaluation Analysis contract. This is a 4-year contract with multiple options, initial options exercised are: “Anatomical Holograms for Medical Education” along with front-end analysis of “Canine Medical Care” and “Emotional Response During Training”. This research effort will provide the educational descriptive designs and development for objective assessment, which will provide information for a comprehensive evaluation for research analysis for Principal Investigators at ARL MedSim to support their current and future research efforts.
- IVIR Inc. participated in the Military Healthcare Systems Research Symposium held in Orlando, FL and was selected to present two research efforts; the Mobile Medical Lane Training (MMLT) system and the Training Assessment/Capability Evaluation and Reporting tool for Research (TrACER-R).
- ‘Using LiDAR Technology Combined with Position-Tracking Software and the Medical Training Evaluation System (MTES) in an Integrated After Action Review System for Mobile Medical Lane Training’. The system provides objective data collection for immediate after action review capability for use in both austere and lab environments.
‘University Of Missouri (MU) Combat Casualty Training Consortium Live Tissue Versus Simulation (CCTC) Research Study And Test Measurement Design’. This study required the development of a robust data collection system for both subject data and observer/controller rater reliability assurance.
IVIR Inc. attended the 2016 Special Operations Medical Association Scientific Assembly in Charlotte, NC. SOMSA provides the opportunity for military and civilian medical providers, academia and industry partners from around the world to meet and exchange ideas. IVIR has been long-standing supporters of the Special Operations community through enhancing medical modeling and simulation training and research initiatives that meet their overall training requirements.
IVIR Inc. participated with USF on a Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness (DMEP) Course accredited by the American College of Surgeons for Physicians and the University of South Florida for Nurses. This course was supported by a grant from the Florida Department of Health, with statewide providers attending. IVIR presented to the audience the Mobile Medical Lane Training (MMLT) system for after action review data capturing and objective evaluation debriefing.
IVIR Inc.’s abstract was accepted to the final scientific program of the 16th International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH 2016). Catherine Strayhorn will be presenting the poster entitled Alternative Approach to Establish Inter-Rater Concordance.
The presentation describes the IVIR developed software assessment system, which allows for the ‘anchoring’ of observer/controllers (or instructors), ensuring objective scoring between observers and consistent scoring of individual observers over time. The system results in strong inter and intra-rater reliability for research study observer/controllers as well as instructors
IVIR Inc. Director of Programs, Nadine Baez, was featured on the Sarasota Network News channel – SNN TV demonstrating the new Army Research Lab/IVIR Inc. low cost simulator prototype.
